Teachers compete in futsal tournament

Team NS$100 won against JPKK Suka-Suka in the sixth Futsal Tournament for Teachers in the Belait District on Sunday.

The tournament, organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department (JPKK) annually, was held in conjunction with the 33rd Teacher’s Day celebration.

Eight teams competed with Sumis 2.3, Permata 2.0, JPI A, and JPKK Suka-Suka 2.0 in Group A, while SMPJNPHAB, SMSA, JPI C, and NS$100 in Group B.

The teams competed in the round-robin group stages in the first half of the tournament, with the top two teams from the two groups advancing to the semi-finals, while the other teams competed for the Silver Plate.

The finals for Silver Plate saw a tied score of 1-1 between SMSA and Permata 2.0, resulting in a penalty kickoff, with the former winning 4-3 to secure the Silver Plate.

Meanwhile, JPI C and JPI A going head-to-head in the third-place match, with the former winning 6-3.

In the finale, JPKK Suka-Suka gained an early lead against Team NS$100 in the first half.

Undeterred, NS$100 bounced back in the second half and to win the match a 1-2.

Belait District JPKK former education officer Kasmah binti Haji Mohamad Nor handed over the medals and trophies.

An award for the best player was also handed to Halevy bin Haji Abu from NS$100. – Daniel Lim
