The Brunei-Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) elected Haji Awang Abdul Alim bin Haji Awang Othman as its new president during its 72nd General Assembly yesterday.
Haji Badar bin Haji Ali retained his post as Deputy President. Haji Jamal bin Haji Kahar also retained his post as the Permanent Chairman. Meanwhile Haji Mustapa bin Haji Masri is the new Secretary General while Haji Juned bin Ramli is the new Secretary of Finance.
The members will serve a three-year term of office.
More than 200 PGGMB members attended the association’s general assembly yesterday, including 80 members of delegations representing teaching zones across the four districts.
Outgoing PGGMB President Haji Yussof bin Haji Mohamad called on new members to study the journey and history of PGGMB to learn from past successes and mistakes.
The outgoing president also handed certificates of achievements to 22 students who excelled in last year’s examinations.
