TAP among 2021 ISSA awards recipients

The Employees Trust Fund (TAP) was awarded the Certificate of Merit in the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Good Practice Awards for Asia and the Pacific 2021 Competition.

The submission titled ‘Ministry of Finance and Economy’s Fiscal Stimulus package of Brunei Darussalam’ was one of the 168 entries received from 30 ISSA members in 19 countries from the region.

The entry highlighted the government’s measures to address the impact of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam as it was carried out with a whole-of-nation approach.

The steps undertaken are focussed on three main components – maintaining public well-being, protecting jobs and providing support for individuals as well as supporting and assisting businesses.

TAP was entrusted by the Ministry of Finance and Economy as the enabler to disseminate and execute the Fiscal Stimulus initiatives to relief the impacted businesses and employees or individuals in the private sector affective April 1, 2020.

The triennial ISSA Good Practice Award for Asia and the Pacific is the most important award dedicated to the outstanding work of social security institutions in the region. The special session is an occasion for the announcement of the winning institution, but also to celebrate the attestations, certificates of merit and certificates of merit with special mention achieved by ISSA member institutions. The competition recognises good practices in the administration of social security and provides a unique opportunity for institutions to present their significant administrative initiatives and innovative solutions to a global audience.

The award ceremony was held during the ISSA Virtual Social Security Forum (VSSF) for the Asia and the Pacific on February 22.

The VSSF, held from February 22 to 24, was hosted on an innovative virtual platform bringing together the membership of the ISSA from Asia and the Pacific to discuss priorities and strategies for social security in the region.
