It is the aim of the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) at the Ministry of Development to provide recreational spaces that are clean, green and safe for everyone to enjoy.
As such, we appreciate the concerns from members of the public and value the constructive feedback and suggestions on how to improve and enhance our parks and beaches.
In response to the letter by Brisk Walker, ‘Public park in dire need of maintenance works’, published in the Opinion page of the Bulletin on February 15, we acknowledge the concerns highlighted. Rest assured that the relevant authorities are currently implementing the rectification works.
Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas is indeed a popular park among the locals; and a tourist attraction that we are proud of.
Being in a transition phase, with the JASTRe eventually taking over the park, there are maintenance and upkeeping works being executed in phases, and among them are ensuring the maintenance of public toilets, repair works to the facilities such as tiles along the walkways, children’s playground and fitness equipment as well as replacement of the street and garden lights.
As we strive to provide and manage such amenities for everyone’s leisure, we also hope that the public will carry out their duties and commit to using the park mindfully and responsibly.
