The Human Trafficking Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department hosted a talk on Trafficking in Persons for security personnel and staff of Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd in Pulau Muara Besar (PMB) to raise awareness and knowledge on human trafficking in
Brunei Darussalam.
The two-day talk was joined by 30 participants, comprising security officers and staff at PMB, including enforcement agencies like the Royal Customs and Excise Department, the Immigration and National Registration Department and Setia Protective Security Services (SPSS) Sdn Bhd.
The talk’s objectives are to provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of the elements and signs of human trafficking to frontliners in PMB.
Among the content of the talk were landmark cases where human trafficking cases were successfully brought to court and meeting all the indications of human trafficking elements investigated by the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit since its establishment on August 16, 2011.
The briefing, which contained the main topics on the Crime of Human Trafficking, was delivered by Head of the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit Deputy Superintendent of Police Hajah Anis @ Roszaffina binti Haji Ahmad.
The presentation also focused on questions about the elements and indicators of the crime of human trafficking in the case studies presented. – James Kon
