Mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide echoed the Takbir Hari Raya Aidiladha last night, the eve of the Feast of Sacrifice, with the main ceremony at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest honour at the main ceremony.
The Takbir was led by mosque youth groups in Brunei-Muara District, officials and staff of the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) and the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), as well as students from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) and participants of the Youth Al-Quran Reading Scheme (STAR).
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
The Takbir ceremony was held to enliven the eve of Hari Raya Aidiladha.
The ceremony also serves to instil a spirit of togetherness among the congregants, strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, foster a closer relationship with the mosque, and promote love for the mosque.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoRA (Policy and Religious) Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, as well as directors, senior officers, and staff under MoRA as well as residents in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) also held a Takbir event to mark Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration for 1444 Hijrah at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the event.
RBAF Commander Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Acting Permanent Secretary at the MinDef, Joint Force Commander RBAF, deputy permanent secretaries, officers and personnel of the MinDef and RBAF were also present.The event commenced with mass Isyak prayer led by Imam Khairol Azmi bin Haji Muhd Salleh followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and the Takbir Raya.
The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Similar events were also held in suraus of RBAF garrisons, camps and bases including at the Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque. – Adib Noor
