A Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim was held at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, as Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was one of the annual activities of Yayasan, organised in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan.
Upon his arrival, His Royal Highness was welcomed by the Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, a member of the Board of Governors of Yayasan; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan; and Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan.
The recitation of Yaasiin and Tahlil was led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamidon bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Hamid. Members of the Board of Directors of Yayasan, members of the Board of Trustees of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, officials and volunteers from Yayasan, students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School and Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’ and Kampong Bolkiah ‘B’ residents were also present. – James Kon
