Tahlil ceremony marks 66 years of formal religious education

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) through the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) held a Tahlil recitation ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim at the Royal Mausoleum yesterday to mark the 66th anniversary of the implementation of formal religious education in the Sultanate.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman attended the ceremony.

The recitation of Surah Yaasiin was led by Head of the Al-Quran Unit at the Inspectorate Division of the JPI Haji Abdullah bin Haji Sahat, followed by Tahlil and Doa Arwah.

Some 300 senior officers, officers and teachers from Arabic and religious schools attended the religious event.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Pengiran Anak Dr Haji Amiruddin Alam Shah bin Pengiran Anak Haji Ismail, heads of departments and divisions at the MoRA, school leaders and teachers were also present.
