Tahlil ceremony enlivens International Day of the Elderly

Around 180 people attended a religious ceremony to mark the International Day of the Elderly 2023 yesterday.

A Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni  Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim was held to mark the occasion.

The event, organised by the Community Development (JAPEM) Department, was attended by Legislative Council members, senior officials at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), grassroots leaders, members of the Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PKWE) from all four districts, representatives from non-governmental organisations and strategic partners of the MCYS.

The ceremony later continued at Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Tamoi for a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony. – Rokiah Mahmud
