    Symposium stresses importance of AI governance for digital ecosystem

    Good governance to guide the design, development and deployment of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) is important, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim said.

    He said a multi-stakeholder collaboration between government and private sector organisations, academia and civil society is essential to achieve a safe and inclusive digital ecosystem.

    Haji Hairul Mohd Daud was speaking as the guest of honour at the first Artificial Intelligence Governance Symposium organised by Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam yesterday.

    The symposium featured presentations from international speakers and panel discussions of responsible development and use of AI, followed by the first AI Governance and Ethics Working Group meeting.

    Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin and AITI Chief Executive Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar were also present.
