The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) hosted a Syariah legal clinic for senior citizens at the Fire and Rescue Department, Old Airport Berakas yesterday.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman attended as the guest of honour.
A discussion on Syariah law was delivered by Director of the Islamic Legal Department at the MoRA Haji Hardifadhillah bin Haji Mohd Salleh, who emphasised on the clinic’s objectives of enhancing knowledge, answering queries and collecting data on issues faced by senior citizens in the country. Haji Hardifadhillah also urged senior citizens to seek assistance to ensure their welfare and protection of their welfare under the Syariah law.
The clinic also touched on familial issues, wealth management in Islam and Syariah criminal law by representatives of the Community Development Department, Syariah Court, Royal Brunei Police Force, the Zakat, Wakaf and Baitulmal Affairs Department, the Syar’ie Prosecution Division, the Religious Enforcement Division and the Family Counselling and Guidance Division.
The clinic was attended by 300 village consultative council members, mosque takmir committee member and representatives of associations. – Azlan Othman
