Sustenance can come in various forms: Imams

Muslims seeking a blessed and ample sustenance, as outlined in the Al-Quran and Hadith, must begin by correcting their intentions, striving to work for the sake of Allah the Almighty and fulfilling their own needs and those under their care. This was highlighted in today’s Friday sermon delivered by Imams across the country.

The Imams emphasised that it is forbidden to blame destiny if one’s desired sustenance has yet to be granted, despite making numerous supplications and performing good deeds. Instead, believers are encouraged to accept that each individual receives sustenance in various forms, and that it is not measured by quantity but by the blessings within it.

“Sustenance is the act of striving for a halal livelihood, which is obligatory in Islam,” said the Imams, reminding congregants that the true joy and benefit of sustenance can only be felt when it is used for good and in ways that please Allah the Almighty.

The sermon also touched on the key relationship between a servant and Allah the Almighty, which is crucial to obtaining blessed sustenance. To achieve this, individuals must work hard, be knowledgeable and skilled in their chosen fields, and not be easily disheartened by setbacks. Instead, they should rise again after any failure or test.

The guidance for obtaining wide and blessed sustenance, as taught in the Qur’an and the Prophet’s Hadith, includes having Taqwa (fear and consciousness of Allah the Almighty), seeking forgiveness through repentance, increasing charitable acts, placing trust in Allah the Almighty (Tawakkul), and maintaining ties of kinship with friends, relatives, and humanity as a whole.

The Imams concluded by reminding worshippers that sustenance is a gift from Allah the Almighty, and through sincere effort, faith, and humility, one can unlock its blessings and provisions in this world and the hereafter. – AZLAN OTHMAN
