Super league begins

Brunei Super League (BSL) 2024/25 is set to kick off today following the launching ceremony officiated by Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) President Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail yesterday.

The president in his welcoming remarks shared the importance of the league as a platform for local football clubs to showcase their players’ talents and skills.

BSL 2024/25, he said, “will see the participation of local football clubs who will compete in two rounds of competition.”

He added, “FABD hopes that this year’s league will showcase quality competition and serves as a strong foundation towards building a glorious future of football in the Sultanate.

“We believe that the clubs will showcase their professionalism and determination.”

FABD also hopes that each player will do their best and inspire the younger generation.

The president then received the Kelme football from Kelme Brunei’s representative Ahmad Mas’oud bin Haji Muhd Halimi.

The competition committee shared that there are 14 local clubs competing in the BSL this year, compared to 16 last year. This year will also see import players in the league.

Today’s match-up will be between Indera FC and MSPPDB at the Tutong Sports Complex at 4pm. Other matches are: BSRC against Rimba Star at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) at 8.15pm; and Wijaya FC against Jerudong FC at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex at 8.15pm. – James Kon
