Around 500 individuals from underprivileged communities in the Temburong District received food packs for Sungkai through a charity programme by the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC) yesterday.
The BRC’s Iftar Akbar-Menyulam Kasih Ramadhan programme’s objective is to share love and care among human beings, especially among asnaf, converts, special needs, senior citizens, orphans and single mothers.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman participated in distributing the food packs at the ceremony in Pekan Bangar.
Some 1,000 food packs from BRC corporate partners and volunteers were distributed.
The programme was first launched last year when it distributed food packs to some 5,000 people from underprivileged communities. – Lyna Mohamad
