Sungkai delight across the Sultanate

Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan

The Nur Ramadhan 1.0 programme organised by Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), through Nadi Al-Qawi Al-Amin under the management of the Faculty of Social Science Education, which began at the start of Ramadhan came to a close on Friday at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah with the breaking of fast and congregational Sunnat Terawih prayer.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Science Education at KUPU SB Associate Professor Dr Mohd Shahril bin Ahmad Razimi as advisor to Nadi Al-Qawi Al-Amin was the guest of honour.

The council chairman said the programme aimed to enliven the blessed month of Ramadhan, foster appreciation for the month and strengthen Ukhwah relations among the KUPU SB community and the public.

The programme also featured Tedarus Al-Quran Nadi Al-Qawi Al-Amin, Muk -hayyam Islamiy programme in Kampong Melilas, Belait District attended by 100 congregants. – Azlan Othman

Kampong Panaga

Some 300 packs of food and drinks were distributed in a drive-through in Kampong Panaga on Friday.

Village heads of Kampong Panaga ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ as well as village consultative council members and Panaga Lagoon committee organised the sungkai meals distribution.

Kampong Panaga ‘C’ village head Khairul Abidin bin Mohd Yassin, Kampong Panaga ‘B’ acting village head Mohd Arifin bin Abdullah and representative of the Kampong Panaga ‘A’ village head Muhd Nurzairie bin Abdullah Peter were among those present. – Daniel Lim

Brunei Shell Recreation Club

Some 27 orphans from Muhammad Alam Primary School were treated to a sungkai feast organised by the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) on Friday.

Mukim Kuala Belait Penghulu Haji Abdul Afiq bin Zainuddin was the guest of honour at the event held at the BSRC ballroom. Acting village head of Kampong Pekan Kuala Belait ‘B’ Mohammad Sufrizal bin Haji Hamdan also participated.

The event began with the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah followed by a talk on the importance of prayers during the month of Ramadhan.

This was followed with BSRC’s acting president Siti Azzahra binti Hanafi, BSRC Social secretary Rosman bin Lamat and Serikandi Group of Company Technical Director Dato Paduka Haji Jamain bin Haji Julaihi handing over donations. – Daniel Lim

Malam Minggu Pusat Belia

The Malam Minggu Pusat Belia (MMPB) broke fast with 30 members of the Down Syndrome Association (ABLE) and their families at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital recently.

The event began with the reading of Tahlil, followed by the witnessing of a canon blast by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces personnel in front of the mosque signalling the breaking of fast. – Azlan Othman

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali

Some 150 food packs were distributed during a Tabarru’ Iftar event organised by Year 1 students at Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali recently.

The event saw the distribution of food packs to mosques in the Tutong District including Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Mosque, Kampong Sinaut Mosque, Ar-Rahim Mosque, Haji Abdul Azim Mosque and Kampong Keriam Mosque.
