Sultanate welcomes 15 Ilal Hijrah babies

The Sultanate welcomed 15 newborns delivered on 1st of Muharram, 1446 Hijrah in conjunction with Ilal Hijrah 1446 and were feted at a ceremony with gifts to mark the occasion.

The Brunei-Muara District recorded the birth of nine boys and six girls at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, while no delivery was reported in the Belait District.

The first baby of the new year delivered at 7.43pm on Saturday weighing 3.4 kilogrammes, belonged to Asnuur Izzah binti Ahmad and Muhammad Ramizi bin Ahmad Mahmud.

While the last baby delivered on the 1st of Muharram was a boy weighing 3.210 kilogrammes belonging to Risi Latip and Nicholas Kamis at 5.07pm.

Parents of the 15 babies in the Brunei-Muara District gathered at the Women and Children’s Centre of RIPAS Hospital to celebrate the Kesyukuran ceremony.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as the Chairman of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) Board of Directors; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar; and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman as the Chairman of Takaful Brunei Darussalam Board of Directors along with the ministers’ spouses attended the ceremony as guest of honours.

The ceremony commenced with the handing over of gifts to the newly born babies led by the Minister of Religious Affairs and the Minister of Health along with their spouses.

It proceeded with the handing over of BND200 Si Manja savings account and BND60 worth of baby essentials presented by the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II and spouse. Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs and spouse handed over BND300 Takaful Nur Savings voucher and a gym mat.

Babies born on the 1st of Muharram, 1446 Hijrah, also received baby essentials worth of BND200 and religious books from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. – Rokiah Mahmud
