Sultanate set for first RoboTech and Innovation competition

Brunei’s very first RoboTech and Innovation (ROBIN) Competition is set to take place tomorrow at OneCity Shopping Centre.

Over 63 students from various schools nationwide are participating in teams, each choosing between three challenging categories: ‘MegaTrex’ and ‘Robo Sumo’ challenges, involving competitive matches using educational robotics kits, and the ‘Innovation’ challenge, which presents an opportunity for project pitching.

Participants have completed a series of workshops conducted from April to June involving sessions of programming, coding and robotics, which qualifies them to compete in the ROBIN Competition 2024.

Judges from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd, Petrosains Malaysia, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), and Brunei Innovation Lab (BIL) will evaluate the teams’ performances.

The event is organised by Seria Energy Lab (SEL), in partnership with Brunei Shell Petroleum, MoE, Department of Schools and Science, Technology, Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre, UBD, BIL, Petrosains Malaysia and Progresif Sdn Bhd.

The primary goal of ROBIN Competition 2024 is to introduce and equip young participants with essential future-ready skills such as programming, 3D fabrication, critical thinking, coding and robotics.
