Sultan visits Ministry of Health

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, emphasised the need for continued improvement and upgrading of the country’s healthcare system during an unscheduled visit to the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Saturday.

His Majesty highlighted that the government has allocated significant expenditure for this purpose, focusing on upgrading and maintaining health and clinic centres, constructing new health facilities, supplying the latest medical machines, and replacing outdated equipment. These initiatives will be implemented in stages based on priority.

To further enhance medical and healthcare services and create more job opportunities for locals, His Majesty has consented to the establishment of 996 posts within the MoH, to be filled progressively from 2023 to 2027.

His Majesty stressed the importance of honesty and trustworthiness, particularly within the MoH’s management.

He urged that every expenses be managed prudently and carefully, avoiding fraud, criminal breach of trust, and corruption. His Majesty also emphasised that there should be no shortcuts in the management of health, welfare, and the lives of the citizens and residents of the country. – AZLAN OTHMAN
