All parties and personnel in the Sultanate are urged to draw lessons from the recent unfortunate incident involving students and public servants during the royal wedding procession ceremony of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam.

This plea was made by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during a special joint Supreme and Working Committee meeting held at Istana Nurul Iman on Tuesday.

His Majesty expressed deep regret over the matter, particularly highlighting the unfortunate use of social media to express dissatisfaction, including hurling insults at the appointed committee for the ceremony and the royal family.

“I held this meeting today as there are certain people who are still talking about the incident. I fully understand the public’s despair and commotion among parents. No one certainly wants their children to consume stale food,” His Majesty said.

During the royal wedding procession ceremony, it was discovered that the food provided to students and public servants was spoiled and infested with maggots. Images and videos circulated on social media, leading to public outcry. Some attendees were also reportedly served mouldy buns.
