His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Thursday afternoon received in audience the Chief Justice of Malaysia Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, who is in the country from 5th until 8th March 2024.
During the Audience Ceremony that was held at Istana Nurul Iman, His Majesty and the Chief Justice of Malaysia discussed plans for judicial cooperation between the two countries, including experience on the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The Chief Justice of Malaysia is in this country at the invitation of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam, for a reciprocal working visit and to subsequently attend a courtesy call with The Chief Justice of Brunei Darussalam and signing of a ‘Memorandum of Judicial Cooperation’ between the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam and the Federal Court of Malaysia.
Through the Memorandum, both judicial bodies have a platform to strengthen communication, facilitate joint learning, and encourage cooperation initiatives, especially in the areas of judicial administration, leadership, and court governance.
Accompanying Tun Tengku Maimun at the Audience Ceremony were High Court Judge; Chief Registrar Federal Court of Malaysia; and Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam.
Also present were The Chief Justice of Brunei Darussalam Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong Wan Oon; Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Judicial Commissioners of the Supreme Court; and Acting Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.
