His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday left for Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits from September 5-7.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Prior to leaving Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to the monarch were members of the royal family.
Also present at the hangar were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; Special Advisor to His Majesty; Cabinet ministers; members of the privy council; deputy ministers; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Acting Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
On arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia, His Majesty was welcomed by Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi.
Also present to greet His Majesty were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof; and Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Indonesia Yuhanizah binti Dato Paduka Dr Haji Ismail.
The ASEAN Summit, chaired by Indonesia, will gather ASEAN heads of state and government as well as dialogue partners to advance discussions on the development of ASEAN and the strengthening of cooperation with dialogue partners with particular focus on issues of mutual importance to the region.
