His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Tuesday received in audience the Prime Minister of Malaysia as Chair of ASEAN Dato Seri’ Anwar Ibrahim. The Audience Ceremony was held at the Istana Nurul Iman.
During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty and the Prime Minister of Malaysia discussed developments in ASEAN, including Malaysia’s preparations as Chairman of ASEAN for 2025 in hosting the upcoming 46th and 47th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits that are scheduled to be held later this year.
Accompanying the Prime Minister of Malaysia was the former Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra, as the Head of the ASEAN Chairman Advisory Group. Also present was Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.
A luncheon was later hosted by His Majesty.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia is on a series of visits to hold meetings with ASEAN Heads of State and Government, which were preceded by a meeting with His Majesty, as the most senior ASEAN leader.
