His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in San Francisco, United States of America on Wednesday to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) which will be held on 15th until 17th November 2023.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival at San Francisco International Airport, His Majesty was welcomed by the Assistant Chief of Protocol, United States Department of State.
Also present to greet His Majesty on arrival were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the United States of America Dato Paduka Haji Serbini bin Ali.
Upon arrival at the hotel, His Majesty was greeted by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
The United States is hosting Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2023 under the theme of “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All.”
The AELM will be chaired by Joseph Biden, President of the United States as the APEC Chairman for 2023. Discussions are expected to include sustainability, climate, just energy transitions, interconnectedness and building inclusive and resilient economies.
