His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Monday left for Vientiane, Laos for a two-day state visit.
Accompanying His Majesty is His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Prior to leaving Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to His Majesty were members of the royal family.
Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; Special Advisor to His Majesty; the Speaker of the Legislative Council; Cabinet ministers; members of the Privy Council; deputy ministers; the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Upon arrival at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, His Majesty was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs as Minister-in-Attendance Saleumxay Kommasith; Head of the President’s Office Khemmany Polsena; Mayor of Vientiane Capital Athsphangthong Siphandone and Ambassador of Laos to Brunei Darussalam Sengdavanh Vongsay.
Also present to greet His Majesty on arrival were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Laos Haji Roslan bin Haji Yacub.
The state visit of His Majesty is at the invitation of President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries on July 27, 1993.
