His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Friday arrived in Paris for a two-day Official Visit to the French Republic.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival at Paris Orly Airport, His Majesty was welcomed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Brunei Darussalam Benard Regnauld-Fabre; and Deputy Prefect of Airport Security Mr Benoit Pichard-Morillon.
Also present to greet His Majesty on arrival were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof; and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the French Republic Datin Paduka Hajah Rakiah binti Haji Abdul Lamit @ Hamid.
The Official Visit is at the invitation of President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.
Brunei Darussalam and the French Republic established Diplomatic Relations in May 1984 and since then, both countries have extensive cooperation in the areas of the economy, energy, defence, education, and culture. His Majesty last made an Official Visit to the French Republic in 2008.
