Students to be tested in entrepreneurial challenge

Students of Institute of Brunei Technical Education’s (IBTE) School of Business, School of Information and Communication Technology, and School of Aviation attended the launch of the ‘First Entrepreneurship and Innovation Challenge’ yesterday.

The challenge is an entrepreneurship and innovation platform for technical and vocational education and Training (TVET) students from IBTE.

It aims to increase awareness and cultivate interest in entrepreneurship and innovation among students through hands-on experiences and interactive sessions as well as promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and to develop student’s entrepreneurial competencies.

During the challenge, students from different domains will collaboratively work to tackle real world problems.

The challenge statement is for students to come up with digital solutions that benefit small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Sultanate.

Prior to the challenge, students also participated in workshops organised by Shell LiveWire and Brunei Innovation Lab to familiarise themselves with concepts such as design thinking, ideation and prototyping on April 18 and 19.

Students will receive support from experienced mentors in the industry during the challenge to refine their proposed solutions, prototypes and pitches.

The winning teams will receive medals and prize money from IBTE. – Azlan Othman
