Some 843 Pre-U1 and Pre-U2 students from Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School participated in the Hubbu Sultan Wa Ulil Amri (Loving the Monarch and Ulil Amri) programme yesterday in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The programme, held at the school’s track and field compound, began with the hoisting of the national flag, and singing of the national anthem.
After the principal’s speech, the students and teachers formed the number ‘77’ in jawi.
The programme aimed to express love and strengthen patriotic spirit among teachers and students towards His Majesty, the nation and the country’s religion as well as to solidify the sovereignty and identity of the country among teachers and students. – Rokiah Mahmud
