Berakas Secondary School celebrated the launch of World Book Day for the first time on March 7 to promote and encourage the love of books among the students.
The event, organised by the school’s English and Drama Department and the Bahasa Melayu Department, saw various activities, including a Where’s Waldo hunt, a quiz on classic and modern literature and a costume parade, where students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters with awards given to the best dressed.
A Dress Your Door competition was held where students decorated a classroom door to represent a book cover. Acting Deputy Director of Schools Department at the Ministry of Education Pengiran Ali Shafie bin Pengiran Haji Abas was the guest of honour.
Principal Alexandar bin Bandang, and deputy principals Mohd Saiful Azhar bin Haji Moksin and Rosman bin Haji Kasah were also present. – Adib Noor
