The International Relations Students’ Society (IRiSS), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) Malaysia organised the International Cultural Exchange Fair (ICEF) 2022 via the Discord platform recently.
Six students from Halalan Thayyiban Sudent Society of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) participated in the programme as representatives of Brunei Darussalam.
The programme began with a welcome speech from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) National Commission Malaysia Executive Secretary Ahmadul Mokhtar bin Mohd Hayani.
The ICEF’s primary aim was to highlight the goals introduced by the United Nations, namely the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Awangku Mohammad Nur Ajrun’azhim bin Pengiran Julkifli representing the Brunei contingent in a dialogue session themed ‘Sustainable Development Goals and Preserving Culture’ shared that the Sultanate is committed to achieving the core goals of the SDGs. He noted that youth involvement is crucial as a mechanism and backbone for a sustainable future.
Awangku Mohammad Nur Ajrun’azhim won the Best Speaker Award in the programme.
A virtual exhibition tour was also held, seeing the Brunei contingent producing a video introducing the culture, language and places of interest in Brunei Darussalam. The video won the Best Exhibition Award, defeating several other ASEAN member countries.
