Jerudong International School (JIS) hosted the annual Brunei Junior Sports League (BJSL) Athletics event on Wednesday.
Around 250 students from Years 5 to 6 competed, representing Hornbill School, International School Brunei (ISB Bandar and ISB Seria), Panaga School and JIS.
The event featured a range of athletic competitions, with students competing in both track and field events. Track events included the 800-metre (m), 600m, 100m, 60m and relays. Field events featured javelin, shot put, quoit throw, long jump and triple jump.
JIS Head of Physical Education Faculty and Sport Hasim Khan said, “In athletics, students are required to perform at their maximum levels and the energy and enthusiasm on display was inspiring. It was wonderful to see students from across Brunei coming together to showcase their athletic ability, displaying resilience and sportsmanship.”
Executive Principal Nicholas Sheehan said, “It was an honour to host this year’s BJSL Athletics event, bringing together young athletes from across Brunei in the spirit of healthy competition and community. Events like these embody the values of dedication and teamwork that we champion at JIS. We are incredibly proud of all the participants for their hard work and determination on the field.”
