Students ready for the new journey

Politeknik Brunei (PB) welcomed 937 students in its orientation week for its 13th intake, July 2023 session for academic year 2023/2024. The new intake received offers to complete 21 types of Level 5 diploma programme.

In an interview with the Bulletin, leader of the oath-taking ceremony Mohammad Aqiel Khairi bin Muhammad Alias who is taking Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Finance said, “I was surprised and proud of getting accepted because PB is regarded as a technical learning institution of high quality. It’s not easy to be accepted. I choose to enroll in PB because I felt the institution can provide technical abilities to enhance my studies – especially in the aspects of contributing back to the country.”

Meanwhile, Siti Nor Mauludinah Batrishya binti Haji Azmirol who is enrolled in Diploma in Nursing said, “I am really excited after being accepted in PB. I would like to be a medical personnel in the army, therefore I need to learn more about nursing and PB provides the perfect learning platform for my future to pursue a career in the army.”

She also shared “I received a scholarship from another institution, but I chose to enroll in PB instead.”

PB Acting Director Lim Kian Boon was the guest of honour at the ceremony held at the Banquet Hall, Bridex Jerudong. The PB Acting Director also launched the ceremony and congratulated the students for their admission to PB and also outlined several updates on PB’s education structure.

The highlight of the ceremony saw a pledge by the new intake students, led by Mohammad Aqiel Khairi bin Muhammad Alias, Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Finance student, from School of Business, PB.

The main objective of the orientation is to showcase participation and cooperation and to enliven the sense of camaraderie among students and staff.

The orientation week also saw briefing sessions and activities providing an insight into life as a student at the institution. – James Kon
