Students raise awareness on hornbill through art

Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) students installed a self-balancing artwork in the heart of Kuala Belait recently, as part of their participation in the Borneo Wildlife Ambassador Programme (BWAP).

The artwork, depicting a hornbill on top of a pole outside Lane Microbakery and Coffee in Belait District, aims to raise awareness on hornbill conservation.

The BWAP, led by 1StopBorneo Wildlife, hopes to safeguard wildlife with students expected to collaborate with the local business community to champion environmental conservation.

The BWAP, which runs from January to June, has seen students engage in numerous learning activities.

Through the artwork, students get to refine skills in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) Education skills. – Daniel Lim
