Students pit wits in robotic coding competition

The winners of the 5th Robotic Coding Conquest (RCC) 2024, organised by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), were announced yesterday.

Team Bumble Bee won the first place in REV Robotics Innovation Challenge. In second and third places were Team Optimus Prime and Team Megatron.

Nuraini Haziqah binti Zailani won first place in the IoT Smart Home Competition with her project, ‘IoT Home Security with Arduino’. Dayangku Alya Syazani binti Pengiran Shahrin and Muhammad Abdul Khair bin Haji Idris were in second and third places.

Singaporean teams won first and third places in the Microsoft AI for Accessibility Hackathon while in second place was UTB’s SCIborg Team.

The first place in the ‘AI and Informatics’ category was awarded to Team Geek Squad TM followed by Team FF@15 in second place and Team Analytical Minds in third place.

In another artificial intelligence (AI) track, Building Intelligent Machine, the first-place winner was Team VisionTech from UTB, who earned a trip to attend the Changemakers of Tomorrow 2024 event at the Shell Technology Centre Bangalore in India. Team Gesture Genius and Team WildGuard AI came in second and third places.

Winners of the competition will have a chance to represent the Sultanate at the first Global Challenge competition in Athens, Greece this September.

UTB Vice Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman attended as the guest of honour at the closing ceremony. – James Kon
