Some 857 students from 30 schools and higher education institutions participated in a virtual workshop of an environmental education tour project organised by Green Brunei in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation (Brunei Liaison Office).
The programme ran from January 11 until yesterday. The virtual workshop was aimed at promoting awareness about climate change and to instil interest among the youth to learn more about the issue, specifically on renewable energy, which is one of the strategies under the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP).
Speakers from Seria Energy Lab showed videos and spoke on the importance of understanding climate change and creating awareness on energy transition to solar energy and the environment.
Speakers from the Department of Electrical Services (DES) presented and gave a demonstration of the different types of solar panels used in Tenaga Suria Brunei in Seria as well as those installed in Brunei such as BSP Flagship Solar Park, The Abode Resort & Spa, Bumiputera Complex in Pekan Bangar, and Temburong District Office.
The Environmental Education Tour Project is supported by the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd.
