Secondary students from seven schools participated in the SDG Youth Camp, where they gained knowledge on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) recently.

The camp concluded with a closing ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), attended by Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee.

During the ceremony, Permanent Secretary (Wawasan) at the Prime Minister’s Office Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad emphasised the camp’s importance in advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

She highlighted the camp exemplifies a national effort towards implementing the 2030 Agenda.

She added the camp provided participants with a platform to understand the significance of SDGs for themselves and the nation, while also offering new experiences and learning opportunities.

She encouraged students to embrace a mindset of adaptability and readiness.

Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala urged participants to view the camp as a first step in preparing for their involvement in the upcoming Borneo Global Issues Conference (BGIC) in October, where SDGs will be a central topic. She advised students to build on the knowledge and skills they acquired during the camp and to maintain their curiosity for participation at the conference.

The five-day camp held from August 10 to 14, was organised by the PMO, serving as the Secretariat to the Special National Coordination Committee (SNCC) on SDGs. The event was supported by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) as the main partner, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, International School Brunei (ISB), Brunei Youth Council, and Green Brunei.
