Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd conducted its educational outreach programme to Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School on July 30, and St Andrew’s School and Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College yesterday.
The programme aimed to introduce students to Hengyi Industries and the dynamic world of the petrochemical industry, the scholarship and career opportunities offered through its joint scholarship programmes, and the environmental management plan implemented to protect the surrounding environment at Pulau Muara Besar.
Students received an in-depth introduction to Hengyi Group, Hengyi Industries and its operations. They also learnt about the transformation of Pulau Muara Besar into the bustling petrochemical complex, including an overview of Phase I and the features of the refinery, and the diverse range of refined products that Hengyi Industries manufactured.
The session also highlighted Hengyi Industries’ substantial contribution to the economy in 2023 and the total supply of fuel products to the local market, along with the various initiatives by the company to support social development in the Sultanate.
One of the main highlights was the scholarship programme offered by Hengyi Industries, showcasing the different courses and educational opportunities that students can take.
The presentation also showcased Hengyi Industries’ environmental management plan, which includes measures to monitor and mitigate potential impacts on water and air quality, the ecological sites around Pulau Muara Besar, and noise levels from operations.
A question-and-answer session was also held during the programme.
Around 400 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 participated in the programme.
Hengyi Industries plans to continue the programme to other schools in the future, aiming to inspire and provide pathways for potential future leaders in the petrochemical industry.
