Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College
Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) College celebrated outstanding students during a ceremony at the college’s auditorium.
Director of the Co-Curriculum Education Department at the Ministry of Education Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad/Mohamat was the guest of honour.
Event chairman Mohd Azri bin Haji Sulaiman said, “Several programmes and teaching techniques have been implemented by the college to enhance academic achievements in 2023, and among them were extra classes, VIP sessions with parents and guardians, the Road to Brilliance programme, exposing students to previous ‘O’ Level/IGCSE and SPE questions, answering techniques workshops, mass intensive revision sessions and reading programmes. Insya Allah, the college will continue to monitor these programmes and make improvements to produce excellent and competent students.”
The chairman also noted that the college’s ‘O’ Level results were second best in the Sultanate, with several subjects scoring better than the average among government schools.
The ceremony also saw the presentation of certificates to students, who have completed Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Extended in Hospitality, that allows them to further their vocational and technical education, as well as students with special needs, who have completed the five-year pre-vocational programme and dedicated teachers.

Pehin Datu Maharaja Secondary School
Some 49 Year 11 students of Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School were awarded for excelling in the GCE ‘O’ Level/IGCSE 2023 examinations yesterday.
Senior Special Duties Officer (Academic) Haji Metusin bin Haji Jais, the guest of honour, was welcomed by principal Haji Malai Shah Eran bin Syed Haji Yussof Al-Idrus.
Prizes and awards were presented to students, who achieved exceptional results, including the Best Student Award, presented to Khairul Harisin bin Haji Zulkifli.
“I thank the teachers, my family and my peers for their support. It’s important to know that hard work plays an important role in achieving success and know that our ‘O’ Level results will determine our pathway in the future,” said Khairul Hasirin. – Adib Noor
Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School
Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School (SMPJNPHAB) recently held a graduation ceremony to honour students who excelled in 2023.
The ceremony, held at the school premises, saw Massutera Engineering Sdn Bhd Managing Director Haji Muhammad Alfie bin Haji Omar as the guest of honour.
The graduates were led by Marzoffli bin Mohd Daud, during a ceremony that began with a speech by the school’s Acting Principal Claxairi Lasit.
The ceremony saw the presentation of prizes and certificates to the top three students in the 2022 School Progress Assessment (SPA), to 89 graduates of the 2022 Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level who attained five credits and above and 43 teachers for exceeding school targets in both SPA and BC GCE ‘O’ Level 2022 examinations, with 28 subject teachers surpassing the 2022 BC GCE ‘O’ National average.
The Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG) committee also presented gifts to top students as well as the most improved student and hostellite.
The event also saw valedictorian speeches from Rabi’atul Nur Qistina Aqilah binti Juperi and Ajrah Zakirah binti Azman, aimed to inspire fellow graduates to embrace future challenges.
