    Students feted at convocation ceremony

    Some 44 graduating students from the Sports School Brunei Darussalam were feted in a convocation ceremony for the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations class of 2024 on Wednesday.

    Sports School Brunei Darussalam Principal Hajah Nor Aisah binti Haji Mohd Salleh delivered a welcoming speech as chairperson of the ceremony, followed by a video presentation highlighting the students’ academic journey.

    The principal presented certificates to all students, which included the presentation of the Outstanding Student Award in the GCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE 2024 examinations, for students who obtained five credits and above, the Student Award for obtaining A* and A results, the Best Achiever in General Programme Science Award, the Best Achiever in General Programme Art Award, the Best Achiever for Sport Stream Student Award and the Overall Best Student Award.

    Student representative Khaira Farhana binti Md Fadzillah in a speech expressing gratitude, reflected on the cohort’s achievements. Deputy Principal of Administration and Academics Norjalina binti Haji Jaafar presented certificates of appreciation to the teachers while Deputy Principal of Sports Haji Azrin bin Haji Aji handed out appreciation certificates to the coaches. Head of the Early Childhood Education Unit at the Department of Schools Hajah Amal Nuriah binti Haji Kumpoh, the guest of honour, presented a special award to Nuramalina binti Haji Ibrahim, a teacher who achieved the highest number of A* and A grades – 14 in total – among 42 students.

    Another special award was also presented to silat coach Muhd Azizan bin Haji Marsad for his contribution to international-level performance, having guided his athletes to win a silver and bronze medal at the ASEAN School Games in Da Nang, Vietnam. – Fadhil Yunus
