As future leaders of the nation, students from the Belait Sixth Form Centre (PTEB) Peer Counsellors (PRR), under the guidance of the school’s counsellor, had an opportunity to give back to the school community as part of the Ramadhan Charity Drive.
The initiative saw the PRR students handing contributions in the form of basic food necessities to 27 recipients comprising less fortunate students and staff members at the school, and was handed over by PTEB Deputy Principal (Academic) Lee Siew Peng.
She was accompanied by the school’s PRR President for 2024/2025 Mohamad Irfan bin Mohamad Shaffie.
Some 21 orphans and recipients of the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) and National Welfare System (SKN) who are studying and working at the school also received their respective aid during the event from PTEB Deputy Principal (Administration) Mohd Shamry bin Haji Mohd Sani.
These were collected as part of the collective effort by the school community that aims to help reduce the financial burden of the underprivileged while also providing opportunities for the PRR members to explore and organise community service activities that encourage charitable giving within the school and the surrounding local community.
The event aimed to promote volunteerism and responsibility among the student leadership while also fostering a long-term culture of giving that can help to inspire more charity initiatives to be held in the future. – Daniel Lim
