The Faculty of Usuluddin at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through its Usuluddin Students’ Body (BadrU), recently organised the Kembara Usuluddin: Jelajah Budaya Kitani programme. The cultural exploration took place at Lamin Warisan, Kampong Tanjong Maya in Tutong District, aiming to deepen students’ appreciation of Brunei’s unique heritage and lifestyle.
The programme offered participants the chance to explore an array of cultural artefacts while learning about the rich history of Lamin Warisan, a heritage site known for promoting Bruneian traditions.
A highlight of the event included a hands-on session where students crafted the traditional snack kuih penyaram, guided by local experts.
The activity showcased the importance of preserving traditional culinary skills.
The programme concluded with an ecoprint workshop using the pounding technique, where participants created distinctive leaf patterns on fabric by hammering leaves onto the material.
Organisers expressed hope that the visit would enhance students’ understanding of Brunei’s cultural heritage and inspire them to contribute to preserving and promoting it within the community. – Fadley Faisal
