Students were called to demonstrate their patriotism and loyalty to the Sultanate by returning to the country to work after completing their studies and provide higher quality services and efficiency to improve the health and well-being of the people in Brunei Darussalam.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said this during a dialogue session with officers and students pursuing their studies in the fields of medicine, dentistry and allied health professionals in the United Kingdom (UK) recently.
Several matters were also raised at the event, such as the updated procedures to improve and strengthen services under the Ministry of Health (MoH), and the future challenges of the healthcare system.
The minister touched on the efforts of the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to support Brunei Vision 2035 including raising the quality of life for citizens and residents by providing the best medical and health services.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said His Majesty’s Government, through the Ministry of Education and Public Service Department, will continue offering scholarship and in-service training (LDP) for students and officers to pursue expertise in medicine and health within the Sultanate.
The minister was joined by Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to the UK First Admiral (Rtd) Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Ang Swee Hui at the dialogue session.
While in the UK, the minister also visited leading medical institutions with the goal of obtaining opportunities to improve expertise among medical and dental practitioners as well as allied health professionals.
