Students bring storybook characters to life

St James’ School students dressed up as their favourite storybook characters as part of the school’s Book Day event yesterday. Themed, ‘Read a Book, and Go Beyond It,’ the costume parade showcased the students’ love for books.

The event, organised by the school’s English department, aimed to encourage students to improve their literacy by reading books from different genres and time periods.

Parents and guardians were also present.

English department head Leonardo M Amo also shared his favourite book, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery, with the students.

“This book (The Little Prince) teaches us to respect our elders, value friendship, obey authority and warn us on the repercussions of procrastination. I encourage everyone to read it,” he said.

This was followed by student-led performances, adapted from storybooks. – Daniel Lim
