Strong winds rip Rimba house roof

Strong winds ripped apart the roof of a house belonging to Pengiran Siti Hawa binti Pengiran Haji Salleh in RPN Kampong Rimba last Wednesday. Various agencies have laid a canvas tarp to cover the house to provide temporary shelter, but Pengiran Siti Hawa fears it may be inadequate given the current monsoon season.

Power supply has also been cut off to prevent mishaps.

“My five children have to sleep in the garage as their rooms have collapsed and are no longer safe. We also have to break the fast in the garage, which is full of clothing damaged by the heavy downpour,” Pengiran Siti Hawa said.

“The Fire and Rescue Department, Community Development Department and Brunei-Muara District Office have inspected the situation.

“But we are in need of assistance as the condition is deteriorating.

“I have to drain the water, especially during sahur,” she said.
