Several areas across the country experienced severe weather conditions on Friday afternoon, resulting in uprooted trees and damaged vehicles.
The Brunei Meteorological Department (BDMD) issued an amber alert at 12.50 pm, warning of heavy showers accompanied by strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 65 km/h. The alert also highlighted the potential risk of flash floods in all districts.
Reports indicate that fallen trees damaged vehicles in Muara, Jerudong, Gadong, Kiulap, and Berakas, while road blockages were caused by fallen trees in Tutong. Additionally, there were reports of shattered windows at an apartment building in Gadong, as well as blown-off roofs in Kampong Ayer.
The amber alert expires at 3 pm. The public is advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
