Strong start to a year of academic triumph

Rimba III Primary School is gearing up for the 2025 academic year with a comprehensive plan to ensure a smooth transition for students and staff, according to Headmistress Noor Hayati binti Haji Emran.

    CREATING A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT

The school will kick off the term with a prayer session to seek blessings for a productive and harmonious academic year. Classrooms are being prepared to provide an engaging environment, with activities such as ice-breaking sessions and team-building exercises planned to help students acclimate. These will be complemented by an introduction to school rules and routines.

Newly enrolled students and their parents will benefit from an orientation programme designed to familiarise them with the school’s facilities and daily activities. Additionally, academic and co-curricular schedules will be distributed in advance to ensure students and parents are well-informed.

Teachers, too, are gearing up for the term through professional development sessions and meetings to align on teaching strategies and expectations.

    UPHOLDING THE COMPULSORY EDUCATION ACT

The school has reiterated its commitment to enforcing Brunei’s Compulsory Education Act, which mandates consistent attendance among students.

Measures include daily attendance monitoring and follow-ups with absentees through phone calls or home visits. Students with attendance rates below 85 per cent will receive targeted support through counselling, motivational programmes and parent discussions.

Incentives are also being introduced to recognise exemplary attendance, aimed at encouraging consistent participation.

    STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION

Workshops and outreach programmes will be conducted to educate parents on the importance of regular school attendance and their obligations under the Compulsory Education Act. Collaboration with the Ministry of Education and active involvement of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) will play key roles in addressing and resolving absenteeism issues.

The headmistress emphasised the collective responsibility of educators, parents and the community in ensuring students not only attend school consistently but thrive academically and socially.

Through these multifaceted efforts, Rimba III Primary School aims to set a strong foundation for a successful academic year while reinforcing its dedication to holistic student development. – Fadley Faisal
