Strong foundations enable physical activities at any age

Youth should have a strong foundation or fundamental skills by involving themselves in three environments – land, water and air – to enable them to be active in physical or leisure activities, regardless of their age.

This was said by Director of the Youth and Sports Department (JBS) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim at the ‘Run with Confidence: The Technique Form’ workshop organised by the Brunei Youth Council, with support from the JBS and Larian Tanpa Batas running community at Riadah Hall, Bandar Seri Begawan Youth Centre last Thursday.

She said the workshop was an initiative to promote fundamental skills and improve physical literacy among all levels.

As a runner, it is essential to have good running techniques to stay healthy, improve performance, and avoid injuries.

Many runners fall into bad habits that lead to injuries, resulting in lower efficiency in running.

Some 60 participants from sixth form centres nationwide were led by instructors from Larian Tanpa Batas. Students were taught on how to run properly including proper breathing techniques, pacing, and footwork.
