Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman emphasised the development of spiritual, physical and intellectual strength throughout one’s service at the passing out parade ceremony of 135 male recruits of the 173rd Intake at the Parade Square of Training Institute Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF), Penanjong Garrison on Friday.
“This is the foundation that will strengthen the organisation as a whole and will allow it to function as the first line of defence in upholding the dignity of the religion, the sovereignty of the nation and the monarch,” added the commander.
Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam, as the guest of honour, also advised those who completed the training to strive to gain knowledge and skills as well as pray for success.
The guest of honour was also invited to inspect the parade and presented awards to the recruits and instructors who had performed outstandingly throughout the training.
The award recipients were: Wafiq Amna bin Haji Hamdani as the Overall Best Recruit; Mohammad Addy Zaky Billah bin Haji Awang Raimi for the Best in Military Skills; Mohammad Wafri Al Jeferiah bin Md Sufri Al Jeferiah for Best in Light Weapon Training; and Muhammad Nur’faiq Izzuddin bin Kamarul Ariffin for the Best in Physical Training.
Meanwhile, Lance Corporal (U) Muhamad Rafiuddin Al-Islam bin Rosli received the Best Section Commander Award, while Sergeant Muhamad Azmi bin Bujeh was named the Best Platoon Sergeant Award.
Deputy and acting deputy services commanders, acting deputy joint force commanders, senior officers and personnel from the Ministry of Defence with family of the recruits were also in attendance.
The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Religious Department officer Lieutenant Awangku Muhammad Nur Hafizan bin Pengiran Haji Hasan. – Adib Noor
