The Society of Chinese Writers, Calligraphers and Artists Brunei Darussalam held a prize presentation ceremony for the 2023 Chinese New Year Calligraphy Competition at Dewan Indah Biru Lugu Industries last Saturday.

The competition aimed to promote calligraphy, enhance communication and mutual trust and was attended by Chargé d’Affaires and Acting Ambassador of the Embassy of China in Brunei Darussalam Wang Haitao.

The competition attracted 1,870 calligraphy enthusiasts from across the country. Some 137 winners were named, comprising students and representatives from Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), St Andrew’s School, St George’s School, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, Seri Mulia Sarjana International School, Chung Hwa School Tutong, Chung Ching Middle School, Seria, Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait, St John’s School, Chung Hwa School, Labi, Chung Hwa School Kiudang, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary and Secondary School, Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB and Seri Mulia Sarjana Primary School.
