The halls of St John’s School in Kuala Belait were filled with inspired and imaginative students as they dressed as their favourite storybook characters on Tuesday, as part of the school’s Book Characters Day, held in conjunction with World Book Day.
The programme commenced with a shadow play by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Kuala Belait Library, portraying the classic story of Incy Wincy Spider in Malay.
It followed with an interactive question and answer session about the story, with prizes presented to participating students by library representatives.
The event also saw a fashion show and a character parade, where the students and teachers brought to life characters from contemporaries such as Harry Potter and Pete the Cat, to the classics including Peter Pan, King Arthur, Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland. – Daniel Lim
