Still waiting for technician to show up, a month on

I would like to applaud the authorities for addressing public complaints and grievances regarding the high electricity bills after the installation of the new smart metering system.

For a while now, I’ve been in the habit of checking the meters to record my daily usage. I have noticed that it’s been over twice the usual rate, and astoundingly, even when no one is home for a day, I’m still looking at 1.5 times more than the usual rate. But the only appliance that runs non-stop on a daily basis is the refrigerator. So what can be causing the spike?

The authorities have said these high charges could be due to meter tampering or wire diversion but there’s no way of knowing if it could be the case for me.

I recently brought the issue to the relevant authority, along with a printed record of the charges. While they couldn’t find any issue with the meters, they agreed to send a technician over to inspect them. It’s been a month and no one has turned up yet.
